How to Update GB WhatsApp Step by Step
These steps work for every Abu Saleh build, from older 2x.xx versions up to 26.97. Follow them in order, and your chats, groups, and settings stay where they are.
- Check your current version. Open the three dot menu, tap GB Settings, and look for the Updates or About section. Note your version number.
- Back up your chats. Open Settings, then Chats, then Chat backup, and tap Back up.
- Copy the backup folder. On Android 11 and newer, recent builds keep it in Android/media/com.gbwhatsapp. Copy the GBWhatsApp folder to your computer or cloud storage.
- Download 27.06. Use the button on this page and wait for the full file.
- Install over the old app. Open the APK and tap Update. Do not uninstall the old app first.
- Open the app and check. Your chats should appear right away. If they do not, restore the backup you copied.
Can I update from inside the app?
Many builds include an update check inside GB Settings, under Updates. It opens the developer’s download page for the new APK. However, the app still cannot install itself, so you finish the steps above by hand.

How to Update an Expired GB WhatsApp
Sometimes the app shows “This version of GB WhatsApp has expired” or “You need the official WhatsApp to log in”. Both messages mean the same thing: the official WhatsApp version inside your build is too old.
An expired build usually still opens far enough to make a backup. So, act before you lose access.
- Back up if you still can. Open Settings, then Chats, then Chat backup.
- Copy the backup folder to your computer or cloud storage.
- Install 27.06. If it installs over your app, you are done.
- If it says “App not installed”, your build came from another modder. Uninstall it, install 27.06, and restore your backup.

What Are the 9aleh and GB Apps Updates?
You may see searches like “9aleh GB WhatsApp update” or “GB WhatsApp new update GBApps”. Here is what those names mean.
9aleh
“9aleh” is Abu Saleh’s name written in Arabic chat style, where the number 9 stands for an Arabic letter. So, a “9aleh update” is simply the regular Abu Saleh build. Right now, that build is 27.06. Abu Saleh also publishes WhatsApp Plus 27.06 on the same base.
GBApps and other site names
