GB WhatsApp for iOS: Can You Install It on an iPhone in 2026?
No, you cannot. GB WhatsApp exists only for Android, and every “GB WhatsApp iOS” download you find is fake or something else entirely. This guide explains why, shows the traps to avoid, and maps each GB feature to a safe iPhone setting.

The short answer
GB WhatsApp does not work on iPhone or iPad. Its developers build it only as an Android APK, and iOS cannot open APK files. The safe way to get GB style features on an iPhone is the official WhatsApp app, which now offers two accounts, chat lock, hidden online status, and usernames.

The facts
Is There GB WhatsApp for iPhone?
No. Abu Saleh and the FMMods group release GB WhatsApp as an Android APK with the package name com.gbwhatsapp. The latest build, 27.06, came out on 19 October 2026, and it targets Android only. No developer has ever released an iOS version.
So, when a site offers “GB WhatsApp for iOS”, it offers one of three things: a fake file, a different app, or a scam. The next sections show how to spot each one.
Android uses APK files
GB WhatsApp ships as an APK. Android lets you install it from outside Google Play.
iPhone uses IPA files from Apple
iOS installs apps from the App Store, or from approved stores in a few regions. It cannot open an APK at all.
No GB WhatsApp IPA exists
No GB developer publishes an iPhone file. Any “GB WhatsApp IPA” comes from someone else.

Each iPhone app needs an Apple certificate. An app without one simply will not open.

Apple reviews App Store apps. It also runs a baseline check, called notarization, on apps from other approved stores.
A mod copies WhatsApp code
GB WhatsApp changes WhatsApp itself. That breaks WhatsApp’s terms, so neither Apple nor a major store would list it.
Official WhatsApp holds the iOS spot
WhatsApp LLC publishes the only real WhatsApp app for iPhone, through the App Store.

Take the App Store toolkits as an example. One popular listing, GBWT Version 2026, states that it “is not an official WhatsApp application”. It links a second account by scanning the WhatsApp Web QR code, and it offers weekly, monthly, and yearly subscriptions. Never do this
Do not install a configuration profile or enter your Apple Account password on a site that promises GB WhatsApp. No real download needs either one.
Sideloading
Can You Sideload GB WhatsApp in the EU, Japan, or Brazil?
Apple now allows other app stores on iPhone in three places. In the European Union, the Digital Markets Act opened this up with iOS 17.4 in 2024. Japan followed with iOS 26.2 in December 2025. Brazil also appears on Apple’s list.
You must live there
Your Apple Account country must match, and you must be physically in that region, according to Apple Support.
Apple still checks every app
Apps from other stores still pass Apple’s notarization, a baseline review for malware and security threats.
No GB WhatsApp in any store
No alternative store lists GB WhatsApp, because no developer has built it for iOS.
So, the new rules change where iPhone apps can come from. However, they do not create an iPhone version of GB WhatsApp.
Old tricks
What About Jailbreak Tweaks Like Watusi?
Years ago, jailbroken iPhones could run tweaks such as Watusi, which added extras like hidden read status to official WhatsApp. This is the closest iOS ever came to a GB style mod.
Today, we do not recommend this route. A jailbreak switches off core iOS protections, so any app can reach your data. Jailbreaks also lag far behind new iOS versions. Meanwhile, WhatsApp keeps raising its minimum iOS version, so old jailbroken iPhones lose support first.
Ban risk stays the same
A tweak changes how WhatsApp behaves, just like a mod. WhatsApp can ban accounts that use unofficial apps, as its help center explains.

WhatsApp launched an iPad app in 2025. Install it, then link it from GB WhatsApp under the three dot menu › Linked devices.
Link a Mac
Use WhatsApp for Mac or WhatsApp Web in Safari, and link it the same way.
Use the iPhone for a second number
Run official WhatsApp on the iPhone with a different number, and keep GB WhatsApp on Android.

Switching phones
Move Your GB WhatsApp Chats to an iPhone
WhatsApp offers an official way to move chats from Android to iPhone. It uses Apple’s Move to iOS app, and it reads chats from official WhatsApp. So, plan the move in two stages.
- On your Android phone, back up GB WhatsApp and switch to official WhatsApp with the same number. Our GB WhatsApp guide explains how to switch safely.
- Check that your chats appear in official WhatsApp on Android.
- Start with a new or factory reset iPhone, connected to the same WiFi as the Android phone.
- Install Move to iOS on the Android phone and follow the steps on the iPhone setup screen.
- Choose WhatsApp in the list of data to move, then install WhatsApp on the iPhone and log in with the same number.
Before you start
Keep both phones plugged in. A large chat history with many photos and videos can take a long time to move.

Official WhatsApp keeps raising its minimum iOS version. From 30 November 2026, it needs iOS 15.5 or newer, according to Techeconomy.
